About CVDI

Established in  2012, the Center for Visual and Decision Informatics is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Cooperative Research Center that works in partnership with government, industry, and academia to develop the next-generation visual and decision support tools and techniques that enable decision-makers to significantly improve the way their organization’s information is organized and interpreted.

Some of CVDI’s accomplishments including:

  • Years 1-8 of the center:
    • $10.7 million = Total funding (Y 1-7)
    • 98 = Total industry member projects completed
    • 169 = Journal publications
    • 81 = Researchers participated on project teams
    • 155 = Undergraduate and graduate students participated on project teams
    • 7 = Patent applications
    • 2 = Technological breakthroughs
    • 102 = Invention disclosures (more invention disclosures coming soon)
    • 6 = Licensing agreements (more licensing agreements are in negotiation)
  • Focused on becoming a national Center of Excellence in Data Science, Big Data Analytics and Visual Analytics
  • Recognized as one of the few international I/UCRC partnerships (with Tampere University in Finland) and the the only I/UCRC in the state of Louisiana
